Quick Kitchen Prep: Chopping an Onion

  1. Cut onion in half: Slice in half through the root and tip. Cut the root and tip off of each half.
  2. Peel off the papery skin: In addition to peeling away the paper layer, peel one extra layer. While this is slightly wasteful, it’s so much quicker than tediously trying to peel just the paper away.
  3. Chop the onion: For each half, make three to four slices across the onion keeping the pieces together. Turn the onion 90 degrees and make repeated slices according to desired size.
