Frosted Sugar Cookies from Top Ate on Your Plate |
Makes about 36 cookies
Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter (1 ½ sticks), room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 containers of vanilla frosting
- 4 drops of blue food coloring
- desired decorations (I used orange sugar sprinkles)
Directions
- Using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Add flour, baking powder and salt and combine by hand. Form into a ball and refrigerate for 1-24 hours.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out dough on a floured surface with floured rolling pin to ¼ inch thickness. Cut cookies with desired cookie cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Combine frosting with food coloring and mix until streaks disappear. Frost using a butter knife. Refrigerate for at least an hour or until frosting sets.
- Plate with goldfish underneath for added appeal.
